Key factors to think about when designing a logo
1. Keep It Appropriate
Your logo HAS to be appropriate, It Is an integral if not main part of your branding, so it needs to fit with every visual asset of your brand perfectly, this is what makes the design and brand speak to its audience. It needs to feel authentic to the industry or niche that it representing & with the symbol or mark that you use you must make sure there is no disconnect from the audience to the brand.
2. Keep It Minimal
There is nothing worse than when a logo has too much information crammed into it, it takes away the clarity of the mark, the cleaner and more elegant the mark or symbol is the more timeless it will look, keep it clean try to keep the mark as minimal as possible.
3. Keep It Clear
Keep it clear, steer away from any kinds of special effects, for example, Gaussian blur, drop shadow etc. They can be miscommunicated on certain digital platforms and print and don't look as a crisp.
4. Keep The Colour Clean
All colour pallets carry meaning and portray certain emotions, brighter colours can represent fun and energy, other colours show trust & authority maybe for a more corporate project. All I'm trying to say is use colour to represent your brand in a meaningful way & make it clear what you are trying to represent, use it as another factor to elevate the brand to its next level.
5. Keep It Functional
You need to test your logo in every situation & put together mock-ups on products, test how it looks from far away, close up & use it in a variety of different situations to make sure your logo is manoeuvrable . & multi functional.
6. Keep It Yours
If you have spent your hard time producing this logo you should be proud of it, make sure when presenting it you are providing the client with a full brand guideline advising and showing how to use the logo, in what situations & what colours to use it with etc. Remember your logo is the main visual representation of a brand, you need to be proud of it & it needs to fulfil its purpose of making the brand memorable & timeless.
